What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do not do with it.

You are not the product.

This site exists to hold stories with care. We do not sell your email. We do not run ads against your submission text. If something here is unclear, write us at hello@thedifficultkids.com.

When you send a story

The "Add your voice" form collects what you choose to enter: display name, email, country (if you pick one), story fields, optional media links, consent flags, and technical metadata needed to process the submission. Submissions are reviewed before anything is published.

Nothing on this site is therapy, a crisis service, or a clinical assessment. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a helpline you trust.

Footer and form sign-ups

If you join the mailing list from the footer or tick the list option in the voice flow, we store your email so we can send occasional updates. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in those messages, or write hello@thedifficultkids.com.

Scapegoat self-check list

On the scapegoat self-check page, if you mark statements you've lived, those choices are stored in your browser (local storage). They are not sent to our servers unless you separately submit a story through the main form.

Analytics

We may use aggregate analytics to understand which pages are read. We do not use it to profile individual readers for sale to third parties.

Questions, corrections, deletion
